Mobile phones in the classroom is a new guide from the Modern Foreign languages Environment suggesting mobiles should not be banned from language lessons, but used as an effective learning tool instead.
The guide is divided into three sections:
- Basic mobile phone use
- Using Bluetooth
- Using a mobile safely
Tips include:
- setting a diary reminder so pupils remember when homework is due
- making notes
- using the countdown or stopwatch function for timed exercises
- practising numbers with the calculator function
- text messaging
- voice recording
- creating and downloading video files
- taking still images with camera
