I'm delighted to say that two of my Nodehill colleagues Gill Bushell and Richard Peace have now decided to join the blogosphere too by setting up their own school blogs Believe it or not and Take the weather with you
Similar to the French blog Two Stars and a Wish, Believe it or not is an RE blog designed to showcase pupils' work which other pupils can then comment on and give suggestions for improvement. The response so far has been very positive and Gill, leader of RE believes this may be the first RE blog of this kind in England, but she would be quite happy to be proved wrong!
Take the weather with you is a different type of blog altogether. Richard who runs the lunchtime Meterological Club (Met Club) at school wanted to create a blog so he could explain the weather in more detail with charts and digital images as well as describe the work the club have been involved in recent years such as an appearance in the TES and a spot on Meridian News with local weather forecaster Martyn Davies. Richard also had the idea to use the blog to publish weekly weather forecasts as podcasts produced by Met Club members. The first podcast went live last week and judging by the post Weekend forecast 9/11/06 - Review seems to have been more accurate than Meridian's official version. Stuart Reeves, leader of PE has also agreed to take a weekly picture of the weather for the blog as he travels to different sporting events around the Isle of Wight.
I look forward to seeing how these blogs develop in the future and how they help to create a community around them. Feel free to pass on the blog addresses to any interested parties. It would be great to receive comments from readers from around the world on our pupils' work, but then who can predict the future?
