For this week's MetCast, my colleague and lover of all things geological and meteological, Richard Peace is using a Voki to let his pupils forecast the weather. The blue-eyed boy does a great job and seems to have the uncanny skill of being able to change his voice throughout the forecast, the markings of a great rockstar I'm sure. Other teachers have also been latching on to the power of the Voki and sound checking its potential.
Paul Benbow Head of Geography at Kings Grove School has been trying out the free service to communicate a variety of messages to his pupils. After reading one of my posts, Rob Chambers started to spread the word to other geography teachers like Kenny O'Donnell and GeoBlogs. Paul Harrington, Kenneth Mclaughlin, Helena Butterfield and Sharon Tonner are using their Vokis at the moment to welcome visitors to their blogs or introduce themselves. Sharon has also put a couple of characters on her RadioHigh blog to send a message to Mrs Wheatley from her Primary Year 2 class who is going to New Zealand for a year.
On the Lickhill French blog, there is a recording of a pupil called Jack practising his French. Sam Dernley has revealed a side of her character that I wasn't previously aware of in Hallo von der Katze! FInally, Esther Mercier has gone Voki crazy with six characters created already (at the time of writing). Go for it Esther!
As I was teaching two Year 5 classes the topic of weather today, I thought I'd join in the fun too. Here are Macaulay and April practising their French. Rock on!
