This week, language teachers Stuart Gorse, Chris Fuller and Adam Sutcliffe (amongst others in The Gordon Schools MFL department) have been videoing pupils practising their French, Spanish and German in creative ways on location around their own schools. They have then been kindly sharing the results by vodcasting the short clips via portals such as Blip.tv and TeacherTube where others can subscribe to them.
Le Petit Nicolas - La photo de la classe is a loose reinterpretation of a tale taken from the classic series of humorous French children's books written by René Goscinny between 1956 and 1964. Filmed on a wet and windy July day, Stuart's pupils prove how a spot of drama in the school yard can be a fun and purposeful way of enhancing their French and of bringing out their theatrical natures.
Chris' and Adam's pupils have been using video to shoot guides of their schools in Spanish and German. Check out the clips here:

Have a look at Adam's post An Experiment in Action Learning on his personal reflection blog So Much to Learn ... So Little Time where he honestly evaluates the outcomes of his video experiments. Chris' comment is also interesting and reinforces the importance of having a good script before you start.
Although, I would imagine making short clips of this kind is quite a time consuming process, the learning benefits of doing so must be considerable. As viewers, we are also privileged to be able to see into other colleagues' classrooms and gain a deeper sense of what a school is about.
Thanks to everyone involved. You've put on a quality act.
