Having never previously attended an unconference or podcamp before, I had no idea what to expect when taking the train up to Birmingham on Friday for PodCampUK. As it happens, it turned out to be a memorable and organic meeting of like-minded creative podcasters from the realms of new media, journalism and education. Mark Pentleton, David Noble and Paul Harrington made the trip too and it was great to have the opportunity to catch up and discuss ideas face to face as well as make many new acquaintances.
Although there were a number of planned talks, it was also possible to volunteer sessions spontaneously in one of the break off rooms. Never wanting to miss out on an opportunity for a bit of self-promotion I decided to offer to speak about blogging and podcasting in language teaching to a mixed audience of educators and other interested parties. The talk was streamed live on Blog.tv and watched/Twittered by Allanah King and Ewan McIntosh to name a few. You can replay the three part session by clicking on the following links in turn: It's as simple as 1, 2, 3.
Thanks to Christian from Documentally.com for supplying the harmonica background to the PhotoStory above and to the organisers for putting on such an amazing event.
It was quite an opportunity to join in in this way.
Thanks for being an open educator.
