This weekend, I had the privileged opportunity to work with members of the CILT Primary Team including Thérèse Comfort, Lucy Adamson, Helen Groothues and Katie Szeless as well as Jim McElwee MFL consultant for Redcar and Cleveland LA on expanding the ICT element of the new QCA Schemes of Work for KS2 French. The two days were thoroughly enjoyable and I felt very flattered to have been asked to take part.
Looking at each unit in turn, we discussed the sorts of activities that we thought would enhance pupil outcomes and make learning more memorable. Of course, we also took into account that teachers would have a range of experience of using technology in the classroom and made suggestions which would support the less confident yet extend the more ICT savvy.
As Thérèse says in the audio file below, these included mainstream ideas on using the interactive whiteboard, presentation software and videoconferencing tools as well as embracing the exciting collaborative nature of blogs, podcasts and wikis. Click on link to find out more.
This sounds really exciting. Look forward to seeing what comes out!

Hi Joe
Any idea if they're planning to do the same for Spanish - or do you think they'll just use the same ideas as the SoW is SO similar???!!

Hi Lisa,
I don't know, to be honest, but I think it would make sense as many of the ideas would work equally well in a different language.

Wow - this looks like really valuable work that you've been doing. Will be so helpful for teachers to combine the ICT and MFL together ... any idea when this will be released to the 'general public?'

Hi Ruth,
I don't know when the definitive version will be published, but you'll be able to read about it here when it is!
