Two weeks ago on Wednesday I gave a repeat performance of my Practical Podcasting presentation as one of the afternoon breakout sessions at the Portsmouth Primary Languages Conference 2008.
Organised by Liz Lord from Admiral Lord Nelson School in Portsmouth, the conference included speakers such as Lid King, National Director for Languages who gave an overview of how primary schools across the country are integrating foreign language learning into the curriculum.
The picture presented was encouragingly positive and indicated the government was serious about their plans to make languages an entitlement for all pupils in KS2 by 2010 which was great to hear and bodes well for the future.
Joe Brown CILT Primary Languages Teaching Adviser then spoke about how pupils understanding of their first language can help them to acquire a second in his active session Do they have full stops in Spanish? Languages and Literacy at Key Stage 2.
After lunch, delegates had a choice of workshops including salsa dancing. The two groups who attended my talk were lovely and asked some great questions to keep me on my toes. They also gave suggestions on how they could use podcasting in their various contexts. The recording below is a mixture of the 'best bits' of the two sessions. Hope you like it.
