This afternoon, a short phone interview I did with Russell Prue at the weekend went out live on the internet during his Wired Teachers Radio Show between 4.00 and 5.00. It was recorded on his state of the art Synergy Portable kit from Clyde Broadcast Products who supply professional radio equipment for stations around the country including those for the BBC.
In the interview, I talk about how I got into blogging and podcasting and how through my blog and The Isle of Wight Conference, I have tried to encourage others to follow suit. Introducing me, Russell very kindly says.
"You really have, I think single-handedly over the last few year made podcasting and blogging, things which were historically very geeky, you've made them very chic - y (sic)."
This was very flattering although I think the emergence of educational blogging and podcasting in England has been without doubt the result of the efforts of a community of teachers not one in particular and that organisations such as the BBC and The Guardian have certainly helped bring terms such as blog and podcast into the mainstream.
I met Russell at the Jersey E-Learning Conference last month where he asked me to join the Wired Teachers network he has set up to encourage colleagues interested in e-learning to share their ideas in a collaborative environment. Of course, I was more than happy to oblige .
Hope you like the interview.
