Since creating a customised RSS feed for finding YouTube videos tagged with the keyword podcasting, I've found many useful clips on the subject. I'm including a selection here to reinforce the basics and offer a few ideas to those who would like to produce more pro-level podcasts.
The first two examples are by Alex Bellinger who gives some practical tips on the sorts of microphones and digital voice recorders you can use to produce higher quality audio than that which can be achieved with a basic USB headet. To this end, he recommends the Shure SM58 dynamic microphone, the Samson CO1U condensor microphone and the M-Audio MicroTrack II for recording on the move.
Alex explains how to connect the microphones to a laptop, runs through the basics of recording/editing with Audacity and shows where you can find podsafe music. In the second clip, he shows how to use Wordpress to publish your podcasts, how to embed an audio player automatically and recommends Pamela for recording Skype calls.
In 2005, Alex created another podcasting walk through which is also worth checking out if only to see his cool retro iRiver H120. He's done a How to subscribe to podcasts in iTunes screencast too. Thanks Alex.
