Martin Hawksey from JISC RSC Scotland North & East has created a useful tutorial about the voicemail feature of Google Talk and how it can be used to send spoken comments as mp3 files to any email address.
An alternative to teachers' traditional written marking, he also suggests in the post Using Google Talk for Audio Feedback how the free app could be used by students for submitting recordings as an oral assignment in a language course. Of course, to do this, they would need to set up a Google account and be over 13, but it is an interesting idea, no?
Thanks to Andrew Middleton for the shout out and for suggesting the tool Vocaroo which can perform a similar function.
