Remember the Milk is a useful tool for creating to do lists and managing your time, but what if you forget to visit the RTM site because you're too busy? Well, it is now possible to have reminders sent to you directly at an exact time and date via Twitter!
All you need to do is to sign up for a Remember the Milk account and then follow rtm on Twitter. That done, click the login link under Ready to set it up? Fill in your RTM details and turn Reminders On.
Then by sending a direct message to rtm, you can receive one back reminding you of an important task. If you include Smart Adds in your message, you can configure the DM reminder so it appears exactly when you want at a time which suits you.
For example, if I were to send the following DM to rtm
d rtm Remember to DM 'to do messages' to Remember the Milk to keep me organised, up to date and very time efficient! ^monday 22/02/2010 22:10
I would receive this (if I had confirmations turned on) almost immediately:
Task "Remember to DM 'to do messages' to Remember the Milk to keep me organised, up to date and very time efficient!" added. Due Mon 22 Feb @ 10:10PM
Then when the task was due, I would receive:
This task is due now: 1. Remember to DM 'to do messages' to Remember the Milk to keep me organised, up to date and very time efficient! (10:10PM)
I could also add *weekly to the original DM and have the same message sent to me every week or a URL which would be added to my tasks list, but unfortunately not included in the DM received.
Why not try it out and see if it makes you more organised, up to date and time efficient! You could be presently surprised.
This is a really good idea. I will start using this to help me keep on top of my tasks.
