Ask a 21st Century educator what their personal learning network or PLN means to them and you'll probably get a range of impassioned and emphatic responses. I posed this question via Twitter during my talk at Language World 2009 and was delighted by the quality of the replies I received.
This clip is a compilation of those answers, pasted into PowerPoint and filmed using Camtasia Studio with a backing track from podsafe artist Andreas Viklund. I hope you find it as thought-provoking as I have done.
For more testimonies on the power and importance of one's PLN to individual teachers, check out the various video contributions to Joyce Setzinger's project which carries the same name as the title of this post. I particularly enjoyed my Twitter buddy and fellow Monty Python fan Michael Fawcett's clip who talks about how he developed his PLN and his own inimitable way of encouraging others to follow suit!
Dr John Strange who is discussing PLNs with his students at the moment published the clip on his EDM 310 blog which is where I got the inspiration to reflect on it here.
Thank you therefore to all my PLN for helping me to write this post and for the wealth of support and encouragement you have given me for free over the years since I started blogging, podcasting and twittering.
You know who you are and I appreciate you one and all!
Great post Joe, can relate to every one of those PLN descriptions, I do hope they inspire other people to give it a go.

I enjoyed both clips: the collection of Twitter comments and Michael Fawcett's talk about what his PLN means to him.
I love the collaboration aspect of using Twitter and blogs for sharing ideas. It's like someone mentioned before, a PLN nowadays is like the teacher's staff room on a global scale. Great stuff.
