Last Tuesday, I was invited by Becta to visit Grays Infant and Nursery School in Newhaven for a show and tell session lead by headteacher Christine Terrey on their learning platform. The clip published here as part of Becta's Next Generation Learning scheme will give you a flavour of how the school is putting distance learning into practice and the positive outcomes it is achieving in the local community as a result.
I first heard about Grays' inspirational work through the TES article Friends, Romans, 3B, lend me your ears in this year's BETT special in which Christine talks about the impact podcasting has had on her pupils' learning in the last three years saying:
"The podcasts give children a voice and an audience. Speaking and listening is essential for young children, many of whom come to our school with lower than average literacy skills,"
It was a fascinating morning and great to see the engaging way their VLE is being used to celebrate learning and cater to the differing needs of the families it is supporting. On a personal note, it was also lovely to finally meet Terry Freedman and Josie Fraser face to face after having known them for such a long time virtually. Thank you to Becta for inviting me along.
I also feel that podcasting is a great learning tool. I think that it could work effectively with all school and students of all grade levels. I feel that technology has come a long way over the years and has impacted our world for the better. Podcasting is just another wonderful tool to be used.

I think podcasting is a great way to use your idle time to immerse yourself in a new language, wether on the bus, walking or jogging, you can listen to some good tips and increase the amount of hours you are exposed to the new language. it has been of tremendous help for me.
